My name is Daniel and I am a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering. I am originally from Texas and came to ICCF three years ago. I grew up going to church but experienced some doubt about my salvation in college. After talking to and being loved by many people, a couple years ago I decided to get baptized, and have experienced growth with the help of my home church, Twin City Bible Church, and the love of people in ICCF. If I can be of assistance to you, if I can help you know Jesus and experience life with him, I would love to connect with you or connect you to people who can help you better. I enjoy volleyball, riding my bike outside, playing music and spending time with friends.
Hi, my name is Bella, and I am a junior majoring in electrical engineering. I am the treasurer in ICCF in charge of the finance for activities. I became a Christian before high school back in China and joined ICCF since the first week of my school year here. During these two years, I met many good friends, received a lot of help, and experienced spiritual growth through bible studies. I really enjoyed the time with fellowship and appreciated the chance to get to know ICCF, which has become an indispensable part of my life. I hope you can have a good time here as well, with great memories.
My name is Gavin Wu and I’m an UIUC undergraduate student studying engineering. I’m from Ningbo, China and have been in the US for studying since 2017. I like watching/play sports, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. My first time hearing the Gospel was in Fall 2017 and I finally became a Christian and later got baptized in Spring 2019. It’s a great blessing to experience God and establish personal relationship with Him in my life. To me, ICCF is a family filled with love. I’ve been learning a lot from people in ICCF and also have built faithful friendship here. If you would like to know more about God, ICCF, or just life in UIUC, I’m more than happy to have conversation with you!
Hi, my name is Yiming. I am a Ph.D. student in chemistry in UIUC. I started to get to know God after I came to the US for graduate school. Christianity greatly changed my worldview. Originally an atheist growing up in the Chinese education system, over time, I realized that not only are my faith and science reconcilable with each other, but even we humans and all the great legacies of human intelligence are created by God, through God, and for God. I am always amazed by the beauty of science, art and nature. In my spare time, I love writing, photographing, baking and dancing. I am also a fitness coach and marathon runner. If you would talk about anything about faith, research and life, I would love to see you! Welcome to the loving family of ICCF!
Hello! My name is Jeffrey, and I’m a PhD student in Materials Science and Engineering. For much of my life, I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia; I also have lived near Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China for three years. While I went to church growing up, my faith grew a lot when I started college, because that was when I found a community of fellow believers of similar age as me, and that was when I began to more deeply understand what it means to follow Jesus. When I came to UIUC, I also found a home away from home in ICCF, since here is a place where one can study the Bible, make friends, speak English, speak Mandarin. Hobbies of mine: reading sci-fi, making music, programming, solving Rubik’s cubes quickly, stargazing…
I became a follower of Jesus while an undergraduate in biology at the University of Illinois in 1973. I graduated with my Master’s from Denver Seminary in 1979. I pastored a church in New York City and did campus ministry at UCLA before returning to Urbana in 1987 to serve the Chinese community. I currently work with ICCF and the Chinese churches in Champaign, Springfield and Peoria. I also teach evangelism and missions as a professor at Urbana Theological Seminary. I obtained my doctorate in intercultural studies from Highland Theological College (Scotland) and Reformed Theological Seminary (USA) in 2012. I have been married to Gwynne for 41 years and have 5 adult children and 3 grandchildren. I love to play basketball, guitar and read when I can find time!
